Lake Placid, site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games, is also home to two of the nation's most prestigious equine masterpieces - the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows. Kicking off the last week in June, the Horseshow has been a staple of Lake Placid's summer for over 30 years. The Lake Placid Horseshow brings together families from all over America including some with celebrated names and their kids such as Glenn Close, Alfre Woodard, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Sciafa, New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg (whose daughter Georgina is an avid equestrienne) Paula Zahn and Lou Dobbs. The Show's objective is equestrian-oriented and family-spirited.
