The Adirondacks and Lake Placid hold a special place in my heart. They are where my parents first met, took us on vacation as children and where we continue to return, when we want to relive old memories and make new ones. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was being at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid with my future husband and stepson. We had tickets to see the bob sled races. They were spectacular! After the event we were strolling thru the streets of the village when suddenly a frenzy erupted from the Ice Arena, the US Hockey Team beat Russia taking the Gold Medal. The excitement and energy flowed out of the arena right into the streets and before long the whole town was caught up in the celebration. It was thrilling to be part of that historical moment. Last September, we returned to Lake Placid and stayed at your wonderful resort, The Golden Arrow. It was the most peaceful and beautiful weekend. A perfect get away to celebrate our 29th anniversary. We loved the resort and all it’s amenities. We especially enjoyed being right on the lake and using the canoes. When we took them out at sunset we were nearly alone, except for a few fisherman and a pair of loons who graciously let us get close enough to take their picture. When we left we were already making plans to return and reminding ourselves that Paradise is just a short distance from home, and that we need to return there more often.
You can never have enough Lake Placid Memories.
