Here are some of our favorite local attractions that are great for getting outside and enjoying the warm weather. Plus, they’re family-friendly and sure to help you make lasting memories.

High Falls Gorge

High Falls Gorge is a 22 acre, privately owned nature park. They provide safe trail access for all ages to an otherwise inaccessible area, with four splendid Adirondack waterfalls cascading over rocks into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago. In the shadow of Whiteface Mountain, you can take a nature walk to view the famous Ausable River as it cascades over ancient granite cliffs.

Sturdy bridges, walkways and groomed walking trails provide safe access to breathtaking Adirondack views and scenic photographic vantage points.

Come visit Ausable Chasm for an assortment of adventures you will not find at any other single location in the Adirondacks. Hike, float and/or climb as you go back in time as you experience one of the oldest natural attractions in the United States (Est. 1870). Immerse yourself in a primeval Adirondack forest as you stroll past Rainbow Falls, Elephant’s Head, Column Rock, Hyde’s Cave and the eerie quiet of Mystic Gorge. Descend hundreds of feet to walk on natural stone walkways and gaze upon eons of geologic history etched in stone.

The Wild Center

Find new ways to connect with nature through outdoor experiences like Forest Music, naturalist-led guided canoe trips, and get to know some of the Adirondack animal ambassadors that call The Wild Center home.

 

HOURS
The Wild Center’s outdoor-only experience is open daily 10am to 5pm. Reservations are required.  Phased reopening of indoor amenities begins
July 1st.

Adirondack Wildlife is a rehabilitation & education organization, whose mission is to take in, rehabilitate & whenever possible, return to the wild, injured or otherwise disabled wildlife, working with local vet & volunteers.

Open 10am to 4pm, Thursday through Monday. Closed Tuesday & Wednesday
