General Hotel Questions

Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. If your room is not yet ready upon arrival, you’re welcome to park on-site and enjoy resort amenities

No—Golden Arrow does not charge a resort fee. Many amenities are included with your stay.

Reservations may be canceled up to 7 days prior to arrival without penalty. Cancellations made within 7 days of arrival may be subject to a fee. Please note that special events may have different policies.

Yes—complimentary on-site parking is available for all registered guests.

Guests must be at least 18 years of age to check in. A valid ID is required at arrival.

Rooms & Amenities

All guest rooms include a mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Select rooms also feature balconies or patios, fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, or kitchenettes.

Guests can enjoy an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and two whirlpool hot tubs, along with a fully equipped fitness center. Complimentary coffee is also available in the lobby.

Guests can enjoy lakeside firepits, a private beach, and seasonal complimentary watercraft on Mirror Lake. In winter, the lake becomes a scenic ice rink for skating right outside our doors.

Yes—guests have access to an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and two whirlpool hot tubs.

Yes—our fitness center includes cardio equipment, strength machines, free weights, and space for stretching or yoga.

Yes—Golden Arrow offers a variety of lakefront accommodations, many with private balconies or patios overlooking Mirror Lake.

Yes—our standard housekeeping service is our optional “Tidy Up,” which includes trash removal, fresh towels, and replenished guest room amenities. Full service housekeeping is also available upon request.

Housekeeping services are optional and include a $5 per day, per room gratuity, which can be adjusted or removed at check-out.

Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort features 165 guest rooms, including a variety of room types, suites, and lakefront accommodations.

Yes—Golden Arrow offers a variety of suites and specialty rooms, including options with fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and kitchenettes for added comfort during your stay.

The Cascade Suite is the largest accommodation at Golden Arrow, with a capacity of up to nine guests. It features three separate rooms, a wood-burning fireplace, a full eat-in kitchen, and two full bathrooms.

While the suite is not connected to the main hotel and does not have a lake view, guests still have full access to all resort amenities.

All fireplaces in guest rooms are gas fireplaces, offering the ambiance of a fire with easy, convenient use.

Our lakeside firepits are available for guest use throughout the day and are shut off at 10:00 PM each evening.

For safety reasons, personal grills are not permitted on property.

Pet Friendly Stays

Yes—Golden Arrow is a pet-friendly hotel with designated pet-friendly rooms, making it easy to travel with your pet.

Yes—there is a $150 fee per pet, per stay. 10% of each pet fee is donated to support local animal organizations.

Yes—the Mirror Lake loop is just outside our doors and offers a scenic, easy walk for you and your dog.

Yes—Generations Tap & Grill is located adjacent to the hotel and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

Breakfast is not automatically included but may be part of select packages or available as an add-on.

Golden Arrow is just a short walk from the Olympic Center, making it easy to access events, hockey games, and the Olympic Museum. 

The Olympic Village used during the 1980 Winter Olympics is not open to the public, as it was converted into a correctional facility. However, many Olympic sites—including the Olympic Center, Olympic Oval, and museum—are located just a short walk from Golden Arrow. Other venues like Whiteface Mountain, the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, and Mt. Van Hoevenberg are just a short drive away.

Not necessarily—Golden Arrow’s central location makes it easy to explore much of Lake Placid on foot, including dining, shopping, and attractions.

Weather & Seasonal Info

Lake Placid is a true winter destination, offering skiing, skating, snowshoeing, and a variety of outdoor activities, along with a classic Adirondack winter atmosphere.

Mirror Lake typically freezes between late December and early January and remains frozen through April, depending on weather conditions. You can view historical freeze and ice-out dates on the Mirror Lake ice record.

Fall foliage in Lake Placid typically begins in late September, with peak color usually occurring in early to mid-October. Timing can vary slightly each year depending on weather conditions.

Lake Placid is a year-round destination. Winter offers snow sports and cozy scenery, summer brings lake activities and hiking, and fall is known for vibrant foliage.

Mirror Lake & Local Info

No—Golden Arrow is located on Mirror Lake, which sits right in the center of Lake Placid. Mirror Lake is a smaller, motor-free lake known for swimming, paddling, and skating, while Lake Placid is larger and located just outside of town.

Yes—Mirror Lake is ideal for swimming and is known for its calm, motor-free waters.

Depending on the season, guests can enjoy swimming, paddling, and relaxing by the water in summer, and skating or walking on the lake in winter.

Yes—Mirror Lake has a scenic walking path that loops around the entire lake, approximately 2.7 miles, making it perfect for walking, jogging, or taking in the views right from the hotel.

No—Lake Placid does not have a continuous road or walking path around it. You can still visit the lake for activities like swimming and boating, and for one of the best views, head up the Whiteface Memorial Highway for a scenic overlook.
