Breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day right? It is if you’ve got a full day of activities in the ADKS! Whether you’re touring the Olympic Venues, hiking a high peak, or spending a day on the slopes at Whiteface Mountain, starting your day with a good meal is essential. Here are some of the great places to grab a bite in Lake Placid – three places to sit down for breakfast, plus three great grab-and-go options if you want to bring your meal with you.
Bonus (because who doesn’t love a good Sunday Funday?) we’ve included three brunch options to end your weekend in the Adirondacks off right!
Sit down, relax, and enjoy your breakfast at one of these three spots
Generations Tap & Grill is a family-friendly restaurant that sits directly on Mirror Lake. In keeping with the sustainable philosophy of the connected Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, the menu features many foods that are grown and raised locally. Generations’ goal is to keep it as local and fresh as possible, showcasing the many wonderful farms and products that are grown, raised, and cultivated in New York’s Adirondack region. During the warmer months, sit outside on the patio and enjoy your breakfast with mountain views.
What we love:
The Hasselhoff – a Generation’s infamous giant hand crafted Bavarian pretzel served with beer cheese sauce, stuffed with scrambled eggs, home fries & your choice of meat
Blue Mt. Lake – three pancakes infused with blueberry puree, then stuffed with fresh blueberries & topped with lemon butter. Served with your choice of meat

The Farmhouse Cafe offers delicious homemade breakfast in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Featuring real Adirondack maple syrup and genuine Hollandaise sauce, you can’t go wrong with any menu item. Stop by and start your day the Farmhouse way!
What we love:
The Bark Eater – Farmhouse French toast stuffed with a blueberry & vanilla cream cheese filling
Classic Eggs Benedict – two poached eggs atop Canadian bacon on an English muffin. Finished with house-made hollandaise sauce

In case the name doesn’t give it away, the Breakfast Club, Etc. thinks breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Their concept has always been to create food that is familiar yet expands the expectations of what breakfast can be. So if you’re looking for a place that will fill you up and give you energy for your day in the mountains, this spot is worth checking out. Plus, the lake views aren’t half bad.
What we love:
Mixed Berry Stuffed French Toast: stuffed with creamy mascarpone and topped with homemade warm mixed berry compote

If you're wanting to get your adventure started ASAP, these spots are great for grab & go options
Located across the street from the Golden Arrow, Soulshine Bagel is the perfect place for a grab and go breakfast option with their daily freshly baked bagels.
Soulshine is the one and only shop that makes homemade from scratch bagels on site in tri-lakes!
What we love:
A classic bagel & cream cheese. Try it on the ever popular rainbow bagel!
Sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel. Try it on a gluten free bagel!

Known for their 46 sandwiches (one named after each of the 46 High Peaks), Big Mountain Deli also has a long list of delicious crepes on the menu. Savory or sweet (or maybe one of each), grab one to go and enjoy by the lake!
What we love:
S’mores – marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs & dark chocolate chips
Smoked Salmon – duck trap smoked salmon, lemon caper cream cheese, fresh baby spinach & red onion

Located in Saranac Lake since 2015, Origin Coffee Co open a second shop in Lake Placid in December 2020 to serve up more coffee and delightful baked goods.
They also offer grab and go options so you can get breakfast and lunch at once. You can also order online ahead of time so you don’t have to wait in line!
What we love:
Cinnamon Rolls – fresh baked and ooey gooey
Banana Toast – banana, almond butter, honey, toasted almonds, farm bread

Sunday Funday, better than a Monday. Can only do it one way...
Big Slide Brewery doesn’t offer breakfast daily, but has a killer farm-to-table Sunday brunch menu – including bottomless mimosas!
The indoor industrial setting allows you to watch part of the brewing process, as well as see the semi-open kitchen. If it’s nice, bring your pup and sit outside on their dog-friendly patio!
What we love:
Crabby Bennies – Bake Placid English muffin, crab cakes, poached eggs, tomato hollandaise, sliced green onion, spicy tot hash on the side
The Hangover Helper – ciabatta roll, fried eggs, bacon, American cheese, sambal mayo, spicy tot hash on the side

Again, does not offer daily breakfast, but a Sunday brunch menu. Located within walking distance from the Golden Arrow, Great Adirondack Brewing sits across from Mirror Lake, offer great views while you eat.
Their outdoor patio is not only dog friendly, but also open year round with a heated tent.
What we love:
Eggs Benedict – two poached eggs over English muffins with Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce (substitute bacon for smoked shrimp with pepper jack cheese). Served with breakfast potatoes
Breakfast Burrito – egg, cheese, potatoes, black beans, bacon, peppers & onions, wrapped in a tortilla & served with breakfast potatoes

Not to play favorites and mention a breakfast repeat, but Generations now features Sunday brunch too! Some of our favorite breakfast items (like the Hasselhoff) made the menu as well as new classics. And of course what would brunch be without bottomless mimosa?!
What we love:
Straight up Blasphemy – Yukon home fries, topped with grilled onions, crispy bacon bits, blue cheese & finished with garlic aioli.
Chicken & Waffles – fresh made Belgian style waffle topped with maple thyme butter, crispy Bell & Evans chicken thigh, house made pickles, & drizzled with honey garlic siracha sauce.
