Music & Arts in Lake Placid

When you think of the Adirondacks, your first thought is probably the Olympics or something sports-related. Maybe hiking or some other outdoor adventure. While there is a plethora of those things to do, Lake Placid also has a music and arts science worth checking out. After all, what better place to offer inspiration than scenic mountains and peaceful waterways. 

Music

During the summer you can find all sorts of live music in and around Lake Placid. Here’s a weekly outline of what you can experience. 

Tuesday: Songs at Mirror Lake

Walk or paddle down to Mid’s Park to listen. Starting at 7pm, each week features a different genre like Blues, Funk, and Indie. 

Wednesday: Lake Placid Sinfonietta

Also starting at 7pm at Mid’s Park, you can listen to this professional summer chamber orchestra of twenty top orchestral musicians from across the country.

Thursday: Party on the Patio

Take a short drive over to Saranac Lake and Partio at the Waterhole! From April through October, you can catch live music from 6-10pm.

Friday: Live music at restaurants

Throughout the summer you can find a variety of bands performing at local restaurants around town like Generations Tap & Grill and Roamer’s Cafe & Bar.

If you’re looking for some Adirondack artwork to take home with you, check out a local gallery with locally made pieces. 

The Curious Otter

A Wildlife Art Gallery located on Main Street in Lake Placid, The Curious Otter is run by husband and wife Rich and Pamela. 

The prints you will see are by Pamela who has a passion for photography and sharing stories of the wildlife she captures. 

Gallery 46

Located in the Alpine Mall and on Main Street Lake Placid, Gallery 46 features local art from local artists. The art reflects the Adirondack landscape from the unique perspective of artists who love or work in the area. At Gallery 46 you can find one-of-a-kind pieces created in oil, pastels, acrylic, metal, jewelry, and more.

Take in a show or take a class…

LPCA

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts has presented arts programming since 1972. They offer a number of events and performances throughout the years, as well as classes, camps, and exhibits.

Past performers in 2024 included Crash Test Dummies and Kevin Nealon! Martin Sexton, Cirque Kikasse, and Parsons Dance Company are all set to perform later this year, and the LPCA has a special discount for Golden Arrow Guests. The LPCA offers in-person and virtual classes for all ages. From painting to pottery, join a class to find your creative voice, develop new skills, and just have fun! 

Exhibits for 2024 include a pottery invitational, a photography exhibit, and a holiday craft show. A popular past exhibit was Dressing the Abbey which showcased the iconic wardrobe of Downton Abbey.
